Here are some questions that did get answered In the Lost episode “Across the Sea” we are introduced to Jacob’s mother, and we find out Jacob and the man in black (who apparently was never given a name) are twin brothers. The lady & the man in black also turn out to be Adam & Eve skeletons from way back in season 1. “The Others” are on the island from real early on, and the Man in black lives with them for 30 years. More questions for you JJ, Damon, et al.? Does the man in black have no actual body now? Is the lady who delivers the babies the first person on the island? How do I play the man in black’s game? Is the light now extinguished? So it seems as though Sideways World is slowly breaking down. I guess that means we won’t get to choose our ending. Which is good, I don’t want a choice, I just want a darn good ending to the series. Eloise & Desmond’s talk reminded me of The Matrix, where Mr. Smith is talking to Neo and says “Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program.” Even with Desmond getting what he wants, according to Eloise which was Charles Whitmore’s approval, he still was looking for more. I don’t totally agree here with Eliose. I think more than anything Desmond wants to be with Penny, yes he does want Charles Whitmore’s approval, but I believe that is secondary to Desmond being with Penny. So this whole episode does beg the question, is Charlie the first to find out, they are in the Matrix, or did Daniel figure it our first? Seems like they met before, so maybe Daniel “wanted to show something” to Charlie, who in turn passed it onto Desmond, who in turn is about to pass it onto George. And one more thing, I remember reading sites when it was first announced that Charlie would return, and they were like how could they do that, he’s dead. Wake Up people this is Sci-Fi. No ones dead unless you see the body, and then their not necessarily dead. Plus once you throw in Time Travel & Alternate Worlds, a cast member can always come back. Which of course leads to the question, who is the best surprise comeback ever? The Man in Black said “Jacob had a thing for numbers” so maybe there is more to come. In a previous post we had talked about Jacob being in the lives of those on Oceanic Flight 815, before they made it to the island. Looks like he has been in the lives of many others as well. The Man in Black, aka fake Locke, took Sawyer (a treacherous climb to be sure) to a cave and revealed “That’s why you’re here. That James is why you’re all here” There were a ton of names (looks like at least 416) on the walls, most of which were crossed out, but “Not all of them”. These are all that was left. #4 – Locke #8 – Reyes #15 – Ford #16 – Jarrah #23 – Shepard #42 – Kwon – “I don’t know if it’s Sun or Jin” says the Man in Black Everyone except Locke on this list was still alive when the numbers were revealed. So 3 ideas for Locke still being on the list. 1 – Jacob didn’t back to the cave yet to mark him off. 2 – Jacob didn’t know he was dead. 3 – Locke is still alive. There are lots of people still alive that were not on this list (Desmond, Claire, Kate). So why are only some still left not crossed out? I don’t believe she will choose Jack or Sawyer. In the first episode of season 6 Kate went to check on Jack first after they time traveled. In the 3rd episode Kate went to check on Sawyer in the house that Sawyer and Juliet shared. Kate has been so back and forth over the first 5 seasons, although I think she has always leaned more towards Sawyer than Jack. Maybe if Sawyer and Juliet didn’t live together then maybe Kate would have chosen Sawyer.   1. Rose’s husband Bernard is actually alive. The whole first season she kept saying he was alive, in season 2 we finally get to meet him.
  2. Jin speaks English.
  3. Locke was in a wheelchair. Flashback to Locke trying to go on a walkabout and it is revealed that Locke was in a wheelchair before the plane crash.
  4. Locke is the dead dude Jeremy Bentham seen in the Flash Forwards.
  5. Jacob has been in the lives of the passengers of Oceanic flight 815, before they made it to the island. Sayid, Kate, Sawyer, Jack, Jin & Sun, John all meet Jacob before coming to the island.
  6. Sayid was in the Republican National Guard.
  7. Richard Alper never ages.
  8. End of Season 3 is a flash forward, revealing at least some passengers will indeed get off the island.
  9. French woman’s distress signal has been on a loop for 16 years.
  10. Ethan’s not on the list. When Hurley reveals to Jack that Ethan is not on the passenger manifest.

Lost and Dollhouse. With Lost we have known for a few years that the 6th season would be its last. Dollhouse was forced to an end a couple months ago. This all makes me think about the end of The X-Files. The X-Files was my favorite series in college. Quite possibly my favorite series ever. Seasons 1-5 were awesome. The first movie came out which was really hyped and I feel lived up to the hype. Season 6-7 were really good as well, but you could easily see that they had moved from Vancouver to California. After season 7 David Duchovny didn’t want to be a part of the series anymore, but Fox knowing that The X-Files was a cash cow went on with seasons 8 & 9 anyways. A very big mistake. I have yet to meet a fan of the series that enjoyed the last 2 seasons, my wife even stopped watching and she’s just as big a fan me. Duchovny of course came back for parts of season 8 & 9 (but it didn’t make a difference at that point) and the second movie, which also seems kind of blah. I really wish the show had ended at season 7. Dollhouse up until Fox announced was canceled seemed to really be wandering and not giving us a whole lot of answers about anything. Thankfully Fox allowed Joss Whedon some time to finish off the series, instead of just blowing it away like they did with Firefly (in my opinion his best series). This has given Joss the opportunity to spew forth lots of answers. Since Fox canceled the series I have actually enjoyed it a lot more and will miss it. When Fox announced the cancellation I was really ambivalent to the news. Fox making Joss condense the show to 7 or 8 episodes what would have been dragged out over 3-4 years is a quick payoff for the fans. Though I am sure many will be upset over the quick end. Lost announced the end of the series a few years back. This really let JJ Abrams and crew plot out where the series was going to go and how to end the show and how to lead up to that end. I really think this was an excellent decision on the part of ABC. I am really going to miss Lost when it goes off the air, but it is a thousand times better then some of cast or crew getting upset and leaving the show and the series dragging on for a few extra seasons that no one really enjoys and really brings down the series as a whole. There are lots more shows that dragged on too long Prison Break, Alias (thankfully ABC saw that error quickly and it only dragged on for about half a season too long). And way to many that end earlier than they needed to Buffy, Angel, Jericho. It is definitely a fine balance of not canceling a show to early and not letting drag on to long. He has spent a lot of time both on and off the island, but still doesn’t seem to age. Does he know where the good mojo is on the island? NO!!!! I have never agree with the theory that we can’t change the past. If time travel is possible, then we must be able to change the past. Oh yeah and how is Sayid that bad of a shot? He should have easily been able to kill Ben.

How is it that every week they can come up with a great ending for Lost. “It’s nice to meet you Ben”, come on!!! I want like another 3 hours right now. I think this is one of the best endings Lost has had. Of course I am interested to know why Ben aged so much and Richard hasn’t really aged at all, but I am sure that will be explained in the months to come. It nice and sad at the same time that the producers of Lost have a time table. Here are some random rants and raves and other ponderings about the Lost Season 4 Finale “There’s No Place Like Home”

  • Why is Locke of the island? He is the one who wanted to stay in the first place. Anyways onto some other stuff.

  • We get to see Walt again, I am wondering how is grandma got away with this, wouldn’t some people have known he was on the plane and supposedly died? Some crazy cousin five times removed who wants to get his 15 minutes, wouldn’t that guy be spilling his beans to every news organization?

  • Ben’s not dead. Seemed like he was suppose to die after moving the island, but this goes back to my theory from X-Files. Nobody’s dead unless you see the body, and even then you can’t be sure.

  • Ode to the Tailes. Yay for Hurley playing chess with dead Mr. Eko.

  • When Desmond came topside on the ship to tell people to abandon ship, did he tell them there was a bomb, cause if I saw a helicopter on the boat, I sure wouldn’t be messing with a life jacket and trying to see how far I could swim.

  • Yay for Michelle Forbes. I first remember her as Ro Lauren on Star Trek: The Next Generation, more recently she has been on 24. Now she can tour the sci-fi convention circuit forever.

  • Island themed birthday party for Hurley, yeah his mom really doesn’t get it, or she is just a cruel, cruel woman.

  • Why did it take Jack so long to have a funeral for his dad. I mean obviously there was no rush at that point, but then a few months after Jack got back did he just wake up and say “Let’s have a funeral for dad today”
