Wow, well played women! I can’t believe 5 women made it to the end, well actually I can. They started as a tribe together and after a tribe shuffle and a merge, the women went back to their first tribe and played the men very well. Kim was definitely a very deserving winner. I always hate when someone just sort of sneaks in at the end and gets the money just because the jury is jealous that someone ousted them. It would have been interesting to see where Colton would have gone in that game. Would the women have kept him around? Probably, because the rest of the men in the jury probably wouldn’t have voted for him. The Star Trek store has started selling Starfleet Diplomas. This is completly insanse, we are just selling diplomas now. We really don’t even need a 22 episode season. If all you can crank out is 5-10 episodes per year then so be it. This is a great universe that was built around 14 episodes and a movie. It is still very well loved. Please bring it back. Angry Birds Space is out now for most platforms, go get it. This is a very welcome addition to the Angry Birds family. If you haven’t yet played it I high recommend it. It is so much more than just new levels. Because it is set in space, there are areas with no gravity and some with gravity, some levels have multiple planets putting out competing gravity fields. GI Joe Annual 2012 is out now from IDW. I really enjoyed the story. THough I must admit I have always been partial to both the Crimson Guard & the Dreadnoks. Without giving too much away I will say the story is very reminiscent of Cobra Commander’s Origin story, and I think very well done.
I do have a complaint about the book though. I really expected to have the Annual have more in it. Some dossiers, extra artwork, something anything. Instead all it contained was one story. An Annual should be a special event and contain more than just one story. IDW for the 2013 annual please add in some more content.

Angry Birds Season has a new update. Rovio just put out a Ham’O'Ween level, bring Angry Birds Season back to its roots with its second Halloween level. Angry Birds Seasons is now showing 2011 Seasons and 2012 Season, so it looks like there will be lots more updates to Angry Birds Seasons to come. There is also a new bird, and orange one this time. If you haven’t yet downloaded Angry Birds Seasons you can do so here for the iPhone or iPad. Rovio released a YouTube video to go along with the new update.

Netflix just went and raised their prices by 60%. Currently for unlimited streaming and 1 DVD out at a time the price is $9.99 per month. For new customers this price just skyrocketed to $15.98 per month ($7.99 for streaming and $7.99 for DVDs). Existing customers get a reprieve until September 1st (a fact they have yet to email current customers about). This is going to make customer loyalty go down a lot. I also suspect their gross revenue to go down as they will lose customers or customers will either cut streaming or cut DVDs (I for one will be dropping the DVDs by mail). It will probably increase their profit margins though.
Basically for most customers at best the customers who are paying $7.99 a month for 1 at a time the DVDs are going to get no more than 8 DVDs a month, making the price the same as getting 8 movies at Redbox or Blockbuster Express. Yes getting DVDs by mail is convenient, but when most of the movies say Long Wait or Very Long Wait for months after they are released I might as well go to Redbox and get the movie I want right away. Redbox almost always has copies of the new movies. For most people they are also within a 2 minute drive of where they live. Apparently investors do like this strategy since Netflix stock went up $12 in overnight trading. I think this is temporary however until their next quarterly earnings statement comes out.

If you haven’t yet seen The Adjustment Bureau I highly recommend you get a copy of it. I don’t really want to give the plot away, but I will say it is a love story disguised as a Sci-Fi movie or vice-versa depending on how you want to look at it. Matt Damon stars as David Norris who wants to be with a girl no matter who or what gets in his way. So now that we know who River Song (Melody Pond, get it?) is, there are so many questions. Namely does River Song and The Doctor hook up? Is River Song going to be the next companion? It seems unlikely to me that Amy & Rory are actually going to raise a child on the TARDIS so I really think this will be the last season that Karen Gillan is on the show. Even though I have already stated I want David Tenant and Billie Piper back on Doctor Who I am actually looking forward to River Song being a companion on the show. I recently picked up the True Blood drink for the season 4 premiere. I must say it was a really good drink. It has caffeine, but not more than a soda. It has a sweet tangy taste. I highly recommend picking one up. I recently picked up Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. It is a pretty good game. It is very remnant of Batman: Arkham Asylum. There are lots of thugs you can work on getting combos on and has achievements just like the Batman game. It also has Spider sense view which is just like Detective Mode in Batman: Arkham Asylum in both good and bad ways. The Spider Sense view lets you focus on the enemies, objects to pick up and places to go. But just like in the Batman game going into this view it hides all the great colors in the game which is really disappointing. I think the developers put a lot of time into making the game look great and you spend more than 80% of the game not being able to enjoy it. Spider Sense also lets you detect oncoming trouble or where you should break down a wall. A lot of the game is standard stuff. Move through a level collect items that you can use to power up your character.

In the game you play as 4 different Spider-Men. The Amazing Spider-Man is voiced by Neil Patrick Harris.

In the game you play 13 different bosses. I won’t mention them all so as to not spoil it, but I will mention one. Carnage. I love Carnage. I have since he was first introduced in the comics, but he rarely shows up and you usually get Venom instead. Don’t get me wrong I love Venom too, but I guess since Carnage doesn’t show up as often it nice to see him and I enjoy his appearances more. One final cameo I will mention is Spider-Ham. Great to see the developers of this game really throwing in a lot of characters.

One thing I didn’t like about this game, that really a lot of games suffer from, is Spider-Man’s little quips to the enemies can get repetitive really quick, especially if you lose to a boss and have to play him again (not that I did that

Netflix has just added lots of Star Trek to it’s streaming line up. The Original Series, The Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise are all available. All the episodes are available. Deep Space Nine is suppose to be available later this year. I’m not sure about the Animated Series. It looks like they have taken all the movies off streaming except for the J.J. Angry Birds newest level is an ode to NASA. Very fitting since the Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off today on the final space shuttle mission. The level is available in Angry Birds Seasons in the Summer Pignic Level 1-17. Dear IDW,

I know you enjoy making lots & lots of money, however I have a suggestion that will still make you a pretty good deal of money. Please cancel all GI Joe books except A Real American Hero as written by Larry Hama. Please keep him as the sole writer until the day he dies. This is the comic that fans want the most and by putting all your resources behind Mr. Hama you will be able to make a great product and sell a lot more issues of it. It would also be fantastic if you could get Mr. Hama to crank out make 14-15 issues per year instead of just 12. Don’t push him into doing 2 per every month, but a few times a year if he is on a roll or has lots of ideas flowing support him by giving him the resources to put out those extra issues. I know when the next GI Joe movie comes out Hasbro will probably ask you to make a few prequel comics. I understand this and am okay with it as long as you limit it to no more than 5 issues. You have a great thing going with having Larry Hama back in the GI Joe fold, please don’t mess this up and please stop diluting the product.

Many things bother me and lots of other people about DC deciding to reboot all it’s comics. The thing that disappoints me the most however is the fact that Detective Comics won’t make it to #1,000. I have always been a huge Batman fan. I have Detective Comics #526 (Batman’s 500th appearance in Detective Comics). I know that Action Comics is a bit ahead of Detective Comics in number, and I know they are both a few years off from making it to #1,000, but now it looks like neither one of them will make it to #1,000. It seems like a lot of people are not enjoying the Green Lantern movie. I would like to say give it a shot, go see it. Is it the best movie out there, no, but it is certainly better than a lot of movies and better than a lot of superhero movies. I think it is pretty well put together, and for a movie that needs to be heavy on special effects they did a really good job with them. I would give Green Lantern a solid B.
