Xbox Live Labs

Xbox Live is running some performance testing right now, and you can get some free items for your avatar. You have to leave your Xbox running and you can’t do anything else on the Xbox while the tests are running. The 3 items you can earn for your avatar are a lab coat, brain helmet, and crazy mad scientist hair. To get all 3 you will have to leave your Xbox running for 6 hours. I suggest doing it overnight, or while out running errands. To find the Xbox Live Labs, sign into Xbox Live then go into My Community. Then it should be the 3rd item over. The Labs is currently scheduled to run through March 27th.

Playable Pac-Man Google Doodle

Google just unveiled a Pac-Man doodle that you can actually play on Google.com. Their blog post Celebrating PAC-MAN’s 30th birthday says it is playable for the next 48 hours, hopefully they’ll keep a playable archive around forever. And since the Google’s post says first-ever playable doodle, hopefully there may be a second, and third, etc. UPDATE #1: Google’s tweet says there are 256 levels UPDATE #2: Google’s Playable Pacman is now occupying 3 of the top 10 trending topics worldwide on Twitter.

UPDATE #3: Google announced that the Pac-Man doodle will be permenately available. Thanks Google!

Bungie is running Be a Hero campaign! You can help get money donated to Haiti, just by playing Halo. You need to play by midnight Pacific tonight (Thursday 1/21), and change your logo to hearts. Here are the steps for changing your emblem. Edit your appearance settings so your character is wearing the RED HEART emblem. a. Press START b. Select “SETTINGS” / “APPEARANCE” c. Select “EMBLEM” d. Select “Hearts” ICON, “Circle” BACKGROUND e. Back out to the APPEARANCES menu and select “COLORS” f. Set “EMBLEM PRIMARY” to RED (or MAROON / BRICK / ROSE depending on which game you’re playing!) g. Set “EMBLEM SECONDARY” to WHITE Make sure you play a game online after you update your emblem
You can also buy Bungie Apparel and Bungie will donate the profits to Haiti.

Halo Wars Add-On

A Halo Wars Add-On is coming. There will be 3 new games modes for multiplayer. Keepaway, Tug of War & Reinforcement. Which will also add 100 gamerscore points. Xbox just released a bunch of Free Downloads, that look to be pretty good (I haven’t played them yet, so no endorsement, just letting you know they are out there). As much as these games get played in my house though, more songs and maps are always welcome, and The X-Files is one of the greatest shows ever.

Here is the rundown:
– Guitar Hero III: Two tracks: “Top Gun Anthem” & “I am Murloc” World of Warcraft Single.

– Rock Band: “Promised Land” by Vesuvius.
